Learn from Leaders Who Are Advancing Equity
Our keynote panel discussion will focus on the ways oppression marginalizes communities and causes trauma. As advocates and preventionists, how can you recognize the ways this trauma shows up among communities, and be culturally responsive in your support? This phenomenal group of movement leaders will discuss how to do this in an intentional way.

Dayna Barrios (she/her)

Dayna Barrios is an enrolled member of the Barbereño/Ventureño Band of Mission Indians from Ventura, California. She has a Master’s Degree in Sociocultural Anthropology where her research focused on disenrollment, identity, and human rights abuses in California Native communities. Dayna has worked with Native populations for the past 10 years in various capacities. She was a Victim Advocate at WEAVE Inc., where she worked specifically with Native survivors, local tribes, and partnering agencies in the Sacramento region. Dayna was also the Director of Youth Initiatives at the Sacramento Native American Health Center, where her work focused on mental health and suicide prevention among Native youth. She has since moved back to Ventura to serve her community, and is the Site Manager for the local Tribal TANF office, which offers prevention and cash aid services to Native people who are in need of assistance. Dayna’s passion is serving her community and advocating for the rights of her people and other Native community members in Ventura County.

Kiara Lee (they/them)
Kiara Lee is a social worker, trauma healing coach, and certified in the State of California in domestic violence and sexual assault counseling for survivors. For the past 12 years, Kiara has been working to support and advocate for survivors of sexual and relationship violence. Kiara works as a consultant to individuals, groups, and organizations facilitating trauma healing and developing holistic wellness plans that center marginalized identities and experiences. Kiara holds a bachelor’s degree in family science from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a master’s degree in social work from North Carolina State University. In their work, Kiara uses a variety of alternative healing modalities and is a certified Resilience Toolkit facilitator and Reiki practitioner.

Tina Rodriguez, Equity Therapist (she/her)
Tina is an accomplished grant writer and business consultant for organizations that serve crime victims and those impacted by incarceration. She travels throughout California expanding programs and developing new businesses. As an expert in best practices for crisis intervention and racial justice, Tina’s work has been published in the California Health Report, HuffPost, and various articles. As the CSSJ Statewide Manager, Tina organizes diverse survivors of crime across California to weigh in on criminal justice and public safety policy to expand protections and support for all victims of crime. Tina graduated from California State University, Fresno in 2014 with a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She currently serves as Board President of ValorUS, a national organization committed to advancing equity and ending sexual violence. Her passion is rooted in prevention through cultural accountability.

Dr. Walters (she/her)
Dr. Walters is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist located in the Bay Area. She views self-care as a radical act with great social impact. Her work is centered around healing within the community and she strives to create safe and supportive environments to explore individual experiences as well as interpersonal issues brought on by cultural and societal pressure.
